Audacity is not “great” it’s gay.
It only works for certain songs,
And that’s like a rare chance though.

This only works on audio that is not audible in two channels at the same time (when this happens, mono is created).

what it does for the song i did was move all of the vocals to the left speaker, and all of the music to the right speaker.. still pretty cool..

u don’t really, but mono tracks only have one bar but stereo have two bar together representing the L and the R. most songs are made into mono so people can’t manipulate them or rip instruments or vocals or things like that. in other words… if they mono then ur pretty much screw unless you got urself an expensive vocal remover program.

Why do you only have mono tracks? What source are you using to get these tracks? You know if you can get hold of an a capella then you can lay the track with vocals and the a capella and invert the phase of one or the other and you’ll cancel out the vocals. But a capellas aren’t easy to come by unless it’s a popular track.

so how do u know if its stereo or mono before u download the track?
Also most of my songs are mono. Why is that?
December 9th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
then you should make a new track under track click new and then copy paste… then it would let you split afterward… that might help.
December 9th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
yes it only work if ur tracks are stereo not mono when you import.
December 9th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
inverting aint the real deal.. sorry. as far as you have drums in the track. this just doesnt wokr anymore..

In audacity? Try going to the edit menu and select preferences.
Under the Audio I/O tab (default)
there is the CHANNELS menu.
Click that and scoll to 2(stereo).
If this doesn’t work let me know and I will figure out what other changes I had to make to get mine working.
